Making Right Decisions

All along the road of life, we make decisions, whether in studies, or in your love life, or even in deciding for a career, and sometimes, the decisions we make make us regret in the end. Maybe because we made the wrong choice, or ended up hurting someone, or the worst, hurting yourself. And right now, you may be asking yourself as to how to make right decisions.

So, today I'm going to give some tips in making decisions:

1. Have a clear understanding of the current situation
"What is the situation all about?" ... I think, this is the best question to ask first before making any move, and this is one aspect that some of us fail to do, because we become hasty. Put this in mind, a clear understanding of the situation will help us weigh things efficiently, and it helps us from swerving to other ideas that is irrelevant to the current situation, simply because, when we are in a situation, especially the problematic ones, we tend to be confused. So, we need to think clearly.

2. Have a list of possible options/solutions
This is only applicable if your situation gives you quite a long time to decide. If you already have understood your current situation, get a pen and a notebook, and make a list of options as to what decision should you make. The advantage of this is that, you have more than one thing to think about. It means, you have more things to weigh.

3. Have a balance of the results and consequences
After making a list of options, weigh each option (that's what I meant with the word balance). And in weighing each option, always put in mind that there will always be a result and its consequences. Thus, weigh each option carefully.

4. Have a firm decision
After weighing each option, choose one option, that will be the basis of your decision. That decision of yours will matter in a long span of time, perhaps for the rest of your life, so better make careful decisions. And, always have a firm stand on your decision. It requires courage to make one.

The tips that I mentioned above do not guarantee that no one will be affected. Each decision you make has its result and consequence. Therefore, its up to you as to how you use your liberty in making decisions in your life.
